Our Knit and Natter Group

The Knit and Natter Group meet every Wednesday at 2 0 clock till 4 0 clock. Come along to meet our friendly group and enjoy good company with tea and biscuits. Do not worry if you do not knit, we do natter well and if you prefer, other crafts can be enjoyed instead of knitting. Members are extremely supportive of each other, and should you wish to learn a new craft skill, help is at hand from our experienced members. Alongside our craft activities we often have a game of Bingo or a quick quiz. We look forward to welcoming you to our group where there are no strangers, only friends you have not yet met.

Our Lace Making Group

Bobbin lace is made by weaving lengths of thread held on the bobbins into a pattern determined by a pattern or pricking. The weaving is held in place with pins and is worked on a lace pillow. There are many forms of bobbin lace as different areas and countries developed their own designs and ways of working. Yet, the basic stitches remain the same whether it is Russian lace, Bruges lace or Northamptonshire lace. Today, lace makers enjoy recreating traditional patterns and developing new and exciting designs using long established techniques.
